As your first task, you will be estimating the percentage of information on the Internet that is incorrect on a topic of your choosing. You should select a topic that you can verify based on your previous knowledge. You also must define a replicable experimental protocol for the estimate that you will obtain. This means that you cannot arbitrarily surf the net and look at information selectively.
You should define a procedure that includes what search engines and key words you will be using. You must also define "percentage of information" this could be based on number of facts, number of pages or a number of other definitions. It is also necessary to define criteria for the scope of the experiment, that is when will it stop. You should, of course, decide on all of these factors before you begin your experiment.
After completing your experiment we will have a range of percentages of misinformation on a variety of topics. What do you suppose this range will be? |
