Introduction

What is the Internet?
A global network of networks (computers and connections)
What is the World Wide Web (WWW)?
A construct describing the information on this global network of computers that can be accessed through http (hyper-text transfer protocol)
Hyper text transfer protocol describes the "language" in which web based information is transferred from one computer to another.
This is just one language (or protocol) of many that exist on the internet.
How do you access the WWW?
Through a piece of software called a web browser
Many web browsers exist.  The two most popular ones are Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Despite their widely publicized dispute, there is a goal for browsers to converge on a common language.
The browser interprets the web based language and displays it in a graphical manner for us to view.
